#1 Cenote Dos Ojos
Dos Ojos (Two Eyes) is the most impressive cenote group in Tulum, named for its two largest cenotes, the Blue Eye (a sparkling, open-air cenote) and the Black Eye (a pitch-dark cavern with stalactites and stalagmites; you’ll need a guide and a flashlight to see this one). Dos Ojos is a flooded cave system with 5 cenotes total and connecting with Sac Actun (more info on Sac Actun below).
Dos Ojos es el grupo de cenotes más impresionante de Tulum, llamado así por sus dos cenotes más grandes, el Ojo Azul (un cenote brillante al aire libre) y el Ojo Negro (una caverna muy oscura con estalactitas y estalagmitas; necesitará un guía y una linterna para verlo). Dos Ojos es un sistema de cuevas inundadas con 5 cenotes en total y que conecta con Sac Actun (más información sobre Sac Actun más adelante).
#2 Cenote de Zacil Ha
Popular with local families, Zacil Ha is a small, open-air cenote with a zip line, diving platform, and 2 pools. The cenote is only about 3 meters deep, but the zip line is what keeps people coming back (it’s just 10 pesos a zip). There is a small, affordable snack bar on site, but most local families bring their own picnic. At 80 pesos to enter, this is among the cheapest cenotes to visit.
Popular entre las familias locales, Zacil Ha es un pequeño cenote al aire libre con una tirolina, una plataforma de buceo y dos piscinas. El cenote sólo tiene unos 3 metros de profundidad, pero la tirolina es lo que hace que la gente vuelva (sólo cuesta 10 pesos la tirolina). Hay un pequeño y asequible snack bar en el lugar, pero la mayoría de las familias locales llevan su propio picnic. A 80 pesos la entrada, este es uno de los cenotes más baratos para visitar.
#3 Cenote Jardin del Eden
Enormous, open-air cenote in the jungle with emerald-sapphire water. Jardin del Eden has a cliff at one end topped with a diving platform, and toward the center is a group of flat rocks just beneath the surface of the water (formerly the roof when the cenote was inside a cave), where people tend to sit and hang out. Visibility is excellent and many people bring their masks to snorkel (though there is not much aquatic life to see here), while divers visit to explore the cenote’s deep underwater caves. There are restrooms, life jacket rentals, and a small snack bar here. Entry is 200 pesos.
Enorme cenote al aire libre en la selva con agua de color zafiro esmeralda. El Jardín del Edén tiene un acantilado en un extremo coronado por una plataforma de buceo, y hacia el centro hay un grupo de rocas planas justo debajo de la superficie del agua (antiguamente el techo cuando el cenote estaba dentro de una cueva), donde la gente suele sentarse y pasar el rato. La visibilidad es excelente y mucha gente trae sus máscaras para bucear (aunque no hay mucha vida acuática que ver aquí), mientras que los buceadores se acercan para explorar las profundas cuevas submarinas del cenote. Hay baños, alquiler de chalecos salvavidas y un pequeño bar. La entrada cuesta 200 pesos.
